Milestones

During 2005/2006 a number of remarkable milestones were achieved as a tangible confirmation of the efforts exerted by EGAS:

  • The Spanish Egyptian Company for Gas (SEGAS): number of Shipments until June 30th, 2006: 92 shipments.
  • ELNG 1st train: number of LNG shipments until June 30th, 2006: 69 shipments.
  • ELNG 2nd train: 45 shipments were exported until June 30th, 2006.
  • Until June 2006, the total number of converted vehicles since the start of Egypt's using natural gas for vehicles has reached 70,000 vehicle.
  • Vehicles consumption of CNG reached 10.8 BCF in 2005/2006 representing 1% of local consumption. This activity was expanded to cover 16 governorates countrywide.
  • A total of 12 CNG fueling stations were built in 2005/2006 bringing the total to 103 stations. Six companies take part in this activity namely: Cargas, Gas Tech, Shell Express, Arabia Gas, Master Gas and Total Egypt.
