EGAS, BP, Eni sign MOU for 2nd LNG train at Damietta                          March 2005
 

On behalf of the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company, Eng. Mohamed Tawila, EGAS Chairman, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding. with Bp Egypt and Eni affiliate Ieoc in the presence of H.E. Eng. Sameh Fahmy Minister of Petroleum on 23 March 2005, setting basis for gas supply of a future second LNG train (Train 2) at SEGAS plant in Damietta, on the Mediterranean coast of Egypt

In light of several major discoveries already made in the Nile delta region including Taurt, Polaris and Raven and considering the exploration potential on existing and new acreages, EGAS, BP and Eni will secure enough gas to feed the 5.3 Trillion Cubic Feet of gas treatment capacity over the period of 20 years for the future Damietta Train 2 .

Damietta Train 1 started production in December 2004, and has an output capacity of 5 million ton per year of LNG. Train 2 will double the LNG production capacity.
