EGAS plays a strategic role in encouraging investment within Egypt’s natural gas sector and promoting both private sector and foreign participation in gas-related projects. EGAS contributes to the development of Egypt’s National Gas Plan and prepares the investment budget for gas projects, ensuring alignment with the sector’s strategic priorities and the optimal use of available resources.

EGAS oversees the implementation of gas connection projects executed through Local Distribution Companies (LDCs). These projects include the expansion of high- and medium-pressure pipelines, as well as the establishment of pressure reduction, metering, and filtration stations, and advanced monitoring and control systems across all consumption sectors — including power generation, industry, commerce, residential areas, and CNG fuelling stations.

All projects are closely monitored to ensure timely completion while proactively addressing challenges during execution.

To safeguard assets and enhance the efficiency of the national gas grid, EGAS applies rigorous maintenance standards across all pipeline projects and associated facilities. This includes periodic inspections, cathodic protection, and preventive and predictive maintenance programs to ensure system reliability and safety.

In support of Egypt’s clean energy transition, EGAS also promotes the use of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) as a vehicle fuel by simplifying procedures for establishing CNG stations and conversion centers, reducing reliance on liquid fuels. EGAS continues to encourage partners to expand the number of converted vehicles, fuelling stations, and conversion facilities nationwide.

Coordinate to prepare EGAS plans for main gas activities, and follow-up reports (monthly, quarterly & annual reports), as well as non-periodical requested reports.

Take part of negotiations over loans provided by funding entities, while assuring EGAS financial policies implementation towards the listed projects in the investment budget.

Preparation of the preliminary feasibility studies for gas project in which the company or one of its subsidiaries is involved in their implementation.

Implementation of gas projects through subsidiaries, while maximizing local component in those projects.

Take part in gas agreements/contracts related to gas transmission, distribution, marketing and   pricing.

Preparation of presentation material for the EGAS’s General Assembly meeting (business results, plans, and investment budgets).

Procedures for Connecting Natural Gas to Residential Units and the Required Contracting Documents
