During an Inspection Visit to Pharaonic Petroleum’s Production Site in Port Said, Minister of Petroleum Directs Expediting the Tie-in of Harmattan Field to Production Facilities
Eng. Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, inspected the production site of Pharaonic Petroleum Company in Port Said to follow up on the company’s drilling, exploration, and field development programs across its areas of operation in the Mediterranean, as well as its ongoing projects, particularly the Harmattan Gas Field.
The Minister was accompanied during the visit by Eng. Sayed Selim, Executive Managing Director of the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS); Eng. Mahmoud Nagy, Undersecretary of the Ministry for Safety, Environment, Energy Efficiency and Climate and Official Spokesperson; Eng. Ishaq Saad, Undersecretary of the Ministry for Production; Major General Hossam Nabil, Head of the Central Security Administration at the Ministry; Eng. Wael Shaheen, Regional Vice President of bp Egypt; Eng. Nasser Al-Yafei, CEO of Arkus; and a number of Pharaonic Petroleum Company’s senior executives.
The Minister emphasized the importance of applying the latest technologies and advanced techniques in drilling and exploration activities to enhance success rates and maximize the utilization of natural gas resources. He also commended Pharaonic Petroleum’s work plan in exploration, appraisal, and field development.
During the visit, Eng. Karim Badawi directed the acceleration of work to tie in the offshore Harmattan Gas Field to production facilities. He also called for assessing all available solutions and alternatives that could help shorten the project’s implementation timeline, enabling the field to come on stream as soon as possible and maximizing the utilization of its reserves and production potential to support domestic natural gas supplies.
The Minister also praised the company’s safety management system, stressing the importance of continuously developing it in line with the latest international standards and maintaining the highest levels of safety across all work sites.
He further commended the efforts of petroleum sector employees and their role in supporting the stability of natural gas supplies to power generation plants and ensuring the availability of petroleum products in the local market.
During the visit, Eng. Hossam Zaki, Chairman of Pharaonic Petroleum Company, presented an overview of the company’s programs and plans to increase natural gas and condensate production, in line with the Ministry’s strategy to boost production rates and maximize the utilization of existing infrastructure.
Zaki stated that the company successfully achieved 100% of its production target for the 2025/2026 fiscal year. He also reviewed the progress of the company’s field development projects, as well as its ongoing drilling and exploration programs across its areas of operation.
