EGAS Signs New Exploration Agreement in the Mediterranean with Eni and BP to Boost Gas Discovery Potential

Engineer Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, and Ms. Martina Obizzi, Head of North Africa and the Levant Region at Italy’s Eni, witnessed the signing of a new incentive-based agreement at the Ministry’s headquarters in New Alamein. The agreement was signed between the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC), the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS), and the companies Eni (IEOC) and BP, to commence exploration activities in the Mediterranean Sea.

The agreement was signed by Eng. Salah Abdel Karim, CEO of EGPC; Eng. Yassin Mohamed, EGAS Executive Managing Director; Mr. Francesco Gaspard, Managing Director of Eni Egypt; and Eng. Wael Shaheen, Regional Vice President of BP Egypt.

The agreement includes the drilling of an exploratory well in the Temsah concession area over the coming months, as part of efforts to accelerate natural gas exploration and enhance opportunities for new discoveries.
